Extraction of oil from plant materials is carried out in two ways.

Pressing is a mechanical extraction of oil on screw presses. Pressing can be single or double – with preliminary and final oil pressing. When processing high-oily seeds (with a fat content of 48% and more), double pressing is used. This process includes preliminary removal of the main amount of oil on screw presses and final oil recovery on high pressure presses. 

The preliminary extraction of oil is preceded by a stage of moisture-heat treatment – frying the mint. This operation facilitates oil separation during pressing and is carried out in two stages. At the first stage, the moisture content of mint from sunflower seeds is brought to 8 … 9%. … At the second stage, mint is dried at a temperature of 105 ° C in braziers of various designs, the moisture content of mint from sunflower seeds is adjusted to 5 … 6%.

The preliminary extraction of oil from the pulp is carried out on screw presses. Depending on the pressure on the material to be pressed and the oil content of the outgoing cake, screw presses are divided into pre-take-off presses – forpress and final oil take-off presses – expellers. Deep oil removal presses (expellers) are characterized by lower productivity than prepresses, but the compression ratio of the oil material in them is much higher. Immediately after receiving the oil, it is purified from mechanical impurities that get into the oil during pressing. For this, methods of settling, centrifugation and filtration are used.

LLC Lopatinsky Plant of Vegetable oil produces unrefined sunflower/vegetable oil from sunflower seeds by double hot pressing. This is the most natural process for producing environmentally friendly oil without the use of chemicals. This oil has a specific sunflower oil aroma and golden color. It is widely used in salads and other gourmet flavors. Unrefined sunflower oil has a limited shelf life and is used at our plant as a raw material for further deep processing – refining and deodorization.
